The launch date of the Rivian R2 has been officially announced following a recent leak. The unveiling event is expected to take place in Laguna Beach at the new Rivian Theatre. Plus, the brand has topped a recent Consumer Reports survey with the highest customer satisfaction score.
Rivian has officially announced the launch date of the R2. As leaked in an Agenda Report for a City Council meeting, the new platform for electric vehicles will launch on March 7th. The document was from the City of Laguna Beach, where the product launch is expected to take place. This also appears to be hinted at with the beach theme throughout the announcement video posted on the brand’s X profile.
Rivian is set to unveil the R2 in the recently renovated Rivian Theatre, previously the Laguna Beach Movie Theatre. The company now uses the building as a meeting space and for “mission aligned non-profit community organizations”. The R2 is expected to be offered in compact SUV and pickup variants at a lower price than the brand’s R1T and R1S EVs, which have starting prices of $73,000 and $78,000, respectively.
In other news, Rivian was recently revealed to have the highest average brand satisfaction based on the 2023 Consumer Reports owner satisfaction survey. The company scored 5/5 for its satisfaction score, with 86% of owners saying they would buy again. For comparison, Tesla scored a 4.5, with 74% of owners suggesting they would repurchase. It remains to be seen how popular the new Rivian R2 EVs will be, with design and some performance metrics expected to be revealed at the March event.
