Android Auto, Google’s vehicle user interface app for Android, is getting a brand-new, more versatile style at Google I/O. Android Auto formerly required a quite stiff screen element ratio. It might not manage things like big, vertically oriented automobile screens and would frequently turn to pillar boxing or letterboxing the UI to keep an affordable design. Now, Google states the user interface is “constructed to adjust to any screen size” thanks to a brand-new panel style.

Google states that “there are 3 primary performances that motorists focus on in their automobiles: navigation, media and interaction,” and the brand-new Android Auto style puts each of those user interfaces in its own panel. Maps gets the greatest, primary panel, media and interaction panels get stacked beside each other, and there’s a combination status/navigation bar. To accommodate the million various screen sizes, these products can be organized in whatever orientation works finest in the cars and truck.

One example, near to the present Android Auto setup, reveals the combination bar oriented vertically versus the side of the screen, followed by a vertical stack of the message and media panels, then a huge Google Maps panel. Another example of a more vertical screen style reveals a huge Google Maps panel on top of the message and media panels, with the combination bar on the bottom, where things can be set up to fit.

The brand-new user interface will be out “this summertime.”
